Volunteer Transports - Driving Dachshunds to Happiness
Thank you for your interest in helping with our Furever Transport Team! A transport group consists of dog-lovers along the East Coast and inland who have a heart for rescue and room for an extra 4-legged passenger in their car. It allows dachshunds to meet their Furever Families in situations that usually would not be possible due to distance.
We ask that all transport members fill out a short form so that we can have your information on hand if we need to get in touch with you! It only takes about 5 minutes.
Fill Out Form
Our transport group is strictly volunteer and all mileage is tax-deductible. There are many reasons why a dog may need a transport (emergency pull from a high-kill shelter, traveling from a shelter to a foster home or from a foster home to a furever home). Once you join our Transport Yahoo Group, you will have the ability to view each transport that is needed. They usually take place on a weekend and will take 2 - 4 hours of your time (60 - 90 miles one way). A transport is made up of several legs of a journey. A member can volunteer when they see one of these legs go through their home town or when it coincides with a pre-existing trip that he or she may be taking. Once you have volunteered for a leg and all the legs have been filled you will receive a final run-sheet that includes exact times, locations and contact informtation of the people you will be meeting.
The best part is that a transport group works well with anyone's schedule. You volunteer when you are able. You also get to experince the joy of knowing that you helped a few more dachshunds make it to their foster or furever homes.
Please consider joining our Volunteer Transport Group and have a direct hand in saving many lives!
