BIO:  

  Abner is a wonderful boy who can be a fun and affectionate addition to your family. Abner loves to sleep on the foot of the bed but wakes up to hug and cuddle in the morning. Abner loves his people and will jump high into the air to show his happiness that you are home. He is happy to wait for you in his kennel while you are at work, although he would probably be trustworthy if left out in the house. Abner plays with toys very energetically and loves to play tug of war with a rope toy. He is great with other dogs and settle down with strangers fairly quickly although he may bark at them initially. Abner can be very dominate and will try to be the pack leader so he needs a family that is not afraid to call his bluff and put him back in his place as a pack member. He walks so well on a leash, never pulling or getting left behind and is a real pleasure. We encourage adopters from all over the United States and will do our absolute best to accommodate you in arranging for transportation if you choose to adopt a dachshund from FDR. If your dachshund of choice is coming from a state other than the one you reside in, there will be an additional $40.00 Health Certificate Fee that is required by law.
