BIO:

Hi! My name is Nona and I’m going to tell you my story and why I’m so special! I found my furever home by complete luck.

-the first day I met my mommy!-

A wonderful FDR volunteer (DeeAnn Jones) rescued me after seeing two kids carrying me down a busy road at night. When she stopped to give them a leash, she learned that these kids found me in a parking lot – I was thrown out like trash, most likely because of my leg!

You see, I was born with a birth defect that caused my ball-and-socket joint in my left front leg to grow incorrectly. It fused in a really weird way and I couldn’t even put my foot down to walk the right way! I had to learn to hobble around on the back of my paw, which caused me to be SUPER clumsy and have nerve damage.

After FDR accepted me as a “special case,” I began my journey to where I am now! Lacey (my foster mommy and furever home!) and DeeAnn raised as much money as they could to help the rescue with my surgery, and while I waited, I finally got to live the good life!

-sitting in my favorite spot!-

I got to eat delicious food for the first time. I got to give and get hugs and kisses whenever I wanted to. I got to go outside and play with other dogs. I even acquired three new feline siblings! Experiencing all that fun for the first time made me pretty sleepy, but I didn’t even have to sleep on the ground anymore!

-spooning with my favorite toy sheep-

After my surgery, I was a little woozy, but that didn’t hold me back! I came running into the waiting room to greet everyone and already wanted to play with the other dogs there. The ride home was a little uncomfortable but my mommy made sure I got enough pain meds and TLC to make me feel better. By the end of the first week, I was already re-mastering stairs and testing out my speed while running!

-on the car ride home after surgery!-

Since then, all I’ve done is have fun and play! Here’s a video of me running around with my next-door neighbor Luna: http://youtu.be/x3oTNH5rmmE. As you can see, I think I run even faster without a leg! My mommy takes me on walks every day; she lives near lots of college students so I get to play with new dogs all the time! I love to go on car rides and explore new places, too. I even get to go to the river to play and swim!

-my first trip to the river!-

All in all, I’m pretty sure I’ve got it made! I’m a simple pup – give me a soft spot to lay and an extremely patient cat to lick and I’m happy! I’ve never met a stranger, either – and if you met me you’d know that in a second! My mommy tells me I’m smart too: I know how to sit, lay down, roll over, stay, and melt your heart with one look!

-happiest girl in the world!-

I don’t think I’d be around today if it weren’t for the help and love from FDR and its volunteers! I know I like to show my gratitude whenever I can!

-loving on DeeAnn, my guardian angel!-

I am happy to say that I’ve found my furever home with someone who loves me unconditionally and accepts me for who I am – with or without a leg!

-puppy love!-

Please submit at least three GOOD pictures of the dog (not blurry, of them alone (no other dogs), one of the face, one standing, and another one) and if possible a video … all pictures and videos help adoptions!
